Andrew was excited to learn that his music was going to be on “Road Trip Nation”. Below, he talks about his relationship with music and the decision to pursue it. He hopes it will help someone who is wrestling with a decision on whether to pursue music or not.
“I hope this music reflects spirit and living I think the reaction I felt to having this song placed on “Road Trip Nation” helped me see that my music can contribute to like-minded and soulful projects such as “Road Trip Nation” with its emphasis on the beauty of human individuality and the power to create and author ones own life and path!”
“Music has always been a great friend. Songwriting helps me access that deep place within and bring my life out to share with people in the world.”
“To me success is when someone hears one of my songs and it stirs any emotion or truth or sense of connection within themselves and life.”
“The listener is as much a part of the song as is the writer/performer. They are co-creators of every song. What the song means to the performer often becomes something different and new once it leaves the instrument and enters the ear of the listener. Songs have a life of their own!”
“Songs are important. They are one of our cultural signposts. They are our memory banks, our storytellers, the record keepers of our emotions and struggles lessons and victories. In times past songwriters where like news bringers that sang the news and stories as they traveled from town to town. Today’s bards still send their songs out town by town in person but now we can even go worldwide in an instant over the Internet and airwaves. What a great calling! What a time to be a musician!”
Andrew talks about his decision to pursue music full-time.
“Trust me there will always be those to tell you that you can’t do it and that’s ok. Sometimes you’ll even be the one saying it the loudest. Music and writing is what my heart wanted but I was so afraid to go for it, something about a choice that big, shuts all kinds of other doors. In hindsight, music was the safest long-term choice after all! There are few other careers that I would have had continued passion for throughout many years of my working life.
“Be yourself and choose your own path because you can!”
